破解iPhone的Hacker(George Hotz)在博客上透露了破解的進度，以及放出了部份Function的名稱：
I have read/write access to the entire system memory, and HV level access to the processor. In other words, I have hacked the PS3. The rest is just software. And reversing. I have a lot of reversing ahead of me, as I now have dumps of LV0 and LV1. I've also dumped the NAND without removing it or a modchip.
3 years, 2 months, 11 days...thats a pretty secure system
Took 5 weeks, 3 in Boston, 2 here, very simple hardware cleverly applied, and some not so simple software.

其實破解與否對偶影響不大，對遊戲的興趣不怎麼大。 買了兩年的PS3，貌似看Blu-Ray比較多。遊戲除了高達無雙是隨機一定要買一款遊戲外，就只買了街頭霸王4。
不過如果真的破解了，反而對刷機比較有興趣，就像ＰＳＰ一樣。改掉它的ＸＭＢ也會很不錯的。
